Intramural Georgetown Lombardi Grants Awarded to 15 Investigators

Fifteen Georgetown Lombardi investigators were recently awarded intramural grants funded by the American Cancer Society (ACS) Young Investigator program, the Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG) Development Funds and the Center for Cancer Systems Biology (CCSB) U54 Grant.

Each of these grant opportunities are designed to provide “seed” money awards for the initiation of promising new projects. This is the first year that grants were offered by the Center for Cancer Systems Biology (CCSB), established at Georgetown Lombardi in May 2010.

The annual Young Investigator Awards, funded by the ACS, provide funding for the initiation of promising new projects by junior faculty members so they can obtain preliminary results. The goal is to enable them to compete successfully for national research grants. The recipients of 2011 ACS grants are:

The CCSG Developmental Funds Awards (DFA) are designed to provide seed money for critical grants in the areas of investigator-initiated studies, synergy awards and research targeted in developing new technologies. The DFAs are funded by the National Cancer Institute through Georgetown Lombardi’s Core Grant. The following individuals and research teams received DFA awards:

The Centers for Cancer Systems Biology (CCSB) U54 awards are designed to support pilot research programs in areas relevant to the goals of Georgetown Lombardi's CCSB.
