Vornado/Charles E. Smith raised $14,292 for CBCC/Lombardi to support its work to increase mammography screenings

Real estate company Vornado/Charles E. Smith of Crystal City, Va., raised $14,292 for Capital Breast Care Center (CBCC), through its “Dress Down for a Cause” Day. Nichole Tennyson and Crystal Packard of Vornado/Charles E. Smith, presented the check to CBCC Executive Director Wanda Lucas.

The donation supports CBCC’s efforts to raise awareness about early detection and to increase mammogram adherence in the Washington, DC, region. A community-based arm of Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center, CBCC follows evidence-based practices as it provides health education, breast care services and patient navigation to women regardless of their ability to pay.

Employees donated money in order to wear jeans and sneakers to work. The campaign has raised $81,342 for CBCC since 2007.

Lucas remarked that, “The employees showed so much enthusiasm for this event—coming together from different locations, taking and sharing pictures. They really proved that Vornado is much more than just a real estate company; they are a group of people with passion.”

Joyce Williams, vice president of human resources and administration at Vornado/Charles E. Smith, has been a strong supporter of CBCC for the past several years.
